Dieses eine Notebook, das ich hier beschreibe, kann ich nicht zu McDonalds oder in ein anderes Restaurant mitnehmen. Warum geht das wohl nicht?

Es war 2019, glaube ich. Es war vielleicht im September, also noch im ziemlich warmen Sommer. Ich ging so ohne bestimmte Absicht an einem kleinen Sperrmüllhaufen vorbei. Da entdeckte ich im Müll ein völlig defektes Notebook. Ein vielleicht unbrauchbarer Computer war das, dachte ich. Das Notebook hatte zwar einen Bildschirm, aber der war kaputt - das Glas war zersplittert - und der klappbare Bildschirm war schon halb abgetrennt vom Hauptteil. Ganz kleine Kabel zum Bildschirm waren abgetrennt! Ich nehme ihn trotzdem mit nach Hause!

Bei mir angekommen, entdecke ich, dass das Gerät nicht mehr gehen wird, wahrscheinlich. Es hatte kein Netzkabel und es hatte keinen intakten Bildschirm mehr, wie gesagt. Der Bildschirm sah wirklich zum Weinen aus! - Ja, die Hälfte, die "Bildschirm" heißt an so einem Notebook, die musste ich im Laufe dieser Geschichte leider in den Müll entsorgen!

Nachdem der Bildschirm weg war, sah das Gerät nur noch so aus:

Nun frisch ans Werk! Nichts ist unmöglich, sagte ich mir. Ich hatte da noch so einige Netzkabel, die vielleicht gingen. Und einen alten Monitor hatte ich auch noch in meiner Sammlung.

Das Notebook musste ich doch ausprobieren, dachte ich.

An diesem Notebook gab es einen Ausgang für das Video-Signal. Und eines meiner Netzkabel ging zwischen das Notebook und die Steckdose zu schalten.

So schwierig war das nicht. Es sollte alles gut funktionieren. Und es funktionierte!

Das Malheur begann erst jetzt. Als ich den Apparat anmachte und sah, was so drauf war softwaremäßig auf dem Notebook, gab es einen Gastzugang ohne jegliche Möglichkeit, etwas zu installieren, und sonst als "Admin" ein Passwort, welches niemand mehr kennt, und ein Programm gegen Viren, das ich nicht mochte: Kaspersky.

Da half vielleicht nur eine Neuinstallation von Windows, musste ich denken. Ich glaube, Windows 7 war es gewesen. Na, ist auch egal. Es steckte jedenfalls noch Arbeit drin.

Ja, Windows 7 lief auch, denn ich konnte es installieren und das Antivirenprogramm loswerden. - Aber aus lauter Langeweile machte ich später im Jahre 2019 ein aktuelles Ubuntu drauf, was auch gut ging.

Irgendwann im Jahre 2020 hatte ich dann das Betriebssystem Windows 10 aufgespielt.

Am 8. Juli installiere ich mit Erfolg "Mozilla Firefox". Das klappt wie fast immer gut.

So. Jetzt ist schon der 9. Juli 2020. Ich will ein kleines kostenloses Office-Paket aufspielen, denke ich. - Ich nehme einfach Libre-Office, wobei aktuell die Versionsnummer 6.4 ist. Ich nehme als 2. Sprache Persisch.

Der Gedanke an die persischen Freunde ist nicht weit ...

Ja, ich möchte gerne mit meinen persischen Mitmenschen einmal etwas schreiben. Vielleicht an so einem Laptop ...

It was in 2019, a sunny September day if I remember well. I just was passing a small pile of bulky waste. Suddenly I discovered a defective laptop in the rubbish.

Maybe that would be an unusable computer! For that device has a screen, but it is broken - the glass shattered - and the foldable screen has been half separated from the other part already, some tiny cables disconnected!

I take it home even though it seems hopeless! Does not matter.

When I arrive at my house, I suspect that this computer won't work. I was reevaluating: my laptop had no power cord, and: that screen looked miserable. - That other half called screen on a laptop I had to throw away, sad to say.

Nothing is impossible, I thought. There were still some power cords in my home - and a monitor was there with an input, too.

Since that point in time, I had a certain hope that the laptop might work again: on this appliance, there was an output for the video signal. And one of my cables fitted between my laptop and the power socket.

It wasn't that difficult. Everything should work fine. And it worked!

The mess would just begin: When I switch on the laptop and see what is on the computer, there would be a guest access with no permission to install anything, and besides that as "Admin" a password I don't know and a mad old anti-virus program which I don't like!

Reinstalling Windows will make way out of that mess! The operating system was Windows 7.

A few days later, I got the new operating system Windows 10 on my laptop. The anti-virus app had disappeared forever. After a while, I installed LibreOffice to it in German, and at a second language Persian.

My thoughts just were with my Persian friends. Maybe one day we will sit together in a livingroom and write with a word-processor like LibreOffice Writer together with the Persian friends of mine.
